Boringhaus

AboutBoringhaus.

Boringhaus is an independent digital media company. It is one person building small, single-purpose web tools and putting them on the open internet, free, with nothing attached.

Fourteen properties live Independent Self-funded

What this is

Small problems, solved properly.

Most useful things on the internet arrive dressed as products. You want to know what time it is in Tokyo, how many tokens are in a prompt, or whether your DNS record has propagated — and first you get a cookie wall, an email capture, a trial countdown, and four ad units that shift the page as you read it.

Boringhaus is the opposite arrangement. Pick one small problem. Build the calculator, checker, or reference that solves it. Put it on the open web where anyone can use it without asking permission. Then keep it boringly reliable for years.

“Boring” is the whole point. These tools are not trying to become platforms. They have no roadmaps, funding rounds, or growth targets. A tool that does one thing correctly and still works in five years is the goal, not a stepping stone to something louder.

Who runs it

One person. Named.

Boringhaus is owned and operated by Clinton Munkres. Every property listed here was designed, written, built, and deployed by the same person, and is maintained by that person. There is no team, no outsourced content mill, and no rotating cast of freelancers behind the bylines.

That matters for a practical reason: when a calculator gives you a number, someone specific is accountable for whether that number is right. If one of these tools is wrong, the fix comes from the person who wrote it — usually the same day. Email team@boringhaus.com and a human reads it.

How it is paid for

Self-funded, and honest about it.

Boringhaus takes no outside investment. There are no investors to satisfy, which is the main reason none of these tools need to grow into something you would rather they did not become.

Some properties carry advertising or affiliate links. Where they do, it is disclosed on that property. Some carry nothing at all. What none of them do:

  • No accounts. Nothing here requires a login to use.
  • No newsletter walls. The answer is never behind an email form.
  • No selling your data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not ever.
  • No dark patterns. No fake urgency, no buried cancel button, no confirm-shaming.

The full detail on data handling lives in the privacy policy. The short version: this catalog site has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking cookies at all.

How it is built

Plain tools, plainly hosted.

Everything is deliberately unglamorous. Pages are largely static, fonts are self-hosted rather than pulled from a third-party CDN, and the sites are deployed on Cloudflare. Source is kept under version control on GitHub.

The result is that these tools load fast, keep working when a vendor changes its pricing, and cost little enough to run that none of them need to be monetised aggressively to survive. Boring infrastructure is what makes the boring promise keepable.
